non-rich non-alt vs the twinks in wsg

Have been messing around w/ a couple new hunters on a new server. No money. No lvl 60 alt to arrange for WC/DM twinking runs (on old server I could trade off with other people or guildmates to get gear for alts – you run my alt thru DM, I run yours, that sort of thing). So, my little BE hunter has been doing surprisingly well in wsg at 19, even though she has a Dragonhawk pet and is only BM specced because of the weak caster stats (at 19 bm is not a good pvp spec). When I started I had 591 hp or something. Most twinks have over 1000 – warriors can have over 1600 (more is possible). But using a mobile/kiting strategy, I managed not to die all that often – and I managed to pump out some respectable damage. Even w/ low hitpoints I’d almost always end up in the top quarter for kb’s (meaningless, I know) and sometimes the top damage done for the whole battlefield (now they show how much damage you do). Some fights I had to go for flag, so my base numbers weren’t as good. But overall I was surprised. Then there were fights where three or more twinks working in concert kept coming at me… not fun. Anyway, since I’m already 19 I can’t farm DM/WC for gear (couldn’t anyway, no friends to help). I managed to luck out and get a dev scale belt for 2 or 3 g on the AH. And I got the killer farstrider’s longbow (i think it’s called that) from the final ghostlands quest, where you kill the boss of Deatholm. It does 14.4 dps or so and is blue – not a Venomstrike, but I didn’t have to run WS 7 times to get it, either. Instead of agi, I’ve focused on sta gear, green sta gear – bandit tunic of sta – some boots of sta – etc. I’m not an engi and don’t have the goggles (I’m herb/alch). Anyway, I have about 900 hp unbuffed, and my alli mule just bought me something that should up that more — and I might buy the staff from the wsg vender (sta +8) – which, w/ a hp buffing pot – might just put me over 1000 hp. Even w/ around 900 hp I’m doing okay against the twinks. I can survive a backstab or ambush opener from a rogue – get him hamstrung – strafe off and kite. And note – my dps is not good compared to a MM build, which most hunters use for lvl 19. My pet doesn’t even have Bite, just fire breath and growl (which i need to remember to turn off in wsg). Anyway, I’ve seen a lot of people complain about twinks. I’ve been 1 killer and dps-dealer in several matches now, and I’m almost always in the top quarter. Hunters rock in WSG if you learn how to move. I know twink hunters who have close to 1600 hps (they got the lucky fishing hat – sta enchants on leg and hat, 100 hp to chest, etc.). I’m not anywhere near them, but I’ve spent less than 5g, which you can easily earn mining, skinning or selling herbs. And I haven’t spent scores of hours in WC and DM farming gear! In wsg, stay mobile – never just plant there and shoot – stay heads up. Yes, you sometimes have to stay still and shoot – but don’t be – always be looking around. If two guys are coming at you while you’re finishing off your target, start moving early. Move towards your teammates, up your tunnel, towards the heal hut if you’re hurt – do concus shot asap – stop warriors from charging you – keep meleers and shamans at range. When attacked up close, wingclip and move. If hamstrung, wingclip the warrior and move unexpectedly – do not melee or you will die – try to get range and Arcane shot/poison shot – and let pet get him. Drop your fire trap so he’ll step in it. Rogues are easy in open field, if you have the HP to survive the ambush. Wingclip and move. Strafe. Get distance and rely on Arcane shot and poison sting. At 19 they can’t slow you (they don’t have poison yet) – they can only gouge to stun you a sec (or sap). If you can get over that pve mentalit of “I’m making my stand here – here I shall stand, shoot, win or die” – and learn to move – learn to kill w/ just pet damage, arcane shots (which u can do on the run), and stings – then yer a happy, kitin’ fool like me. Now, if only I could learn to do that spin shot thing… gah, I need more twich factor…. (spin shot – on the run you spin and concus shot – killer stuff). GL! (edit – the basic point is that in very little time, w/ no help from 60s, and spending under 5g, I’ve been able to strengthen my BE hunter so she can stand up against twinks. Does that make her a twink? She only has two blue items and one enchant – +3 sta on bracer. So no, she’s not a twink – at best a semi-twink. Anyway, w/ gear and good tactics, you can take on twinks in wsg. That’s the message – if you wanna try it, go to it! (blood rings, or something like that — +5 sta x 2 — can be bought cheap on AH (depending on server and your luck) and help a lot). Edited, Feb 8th 2007 3:43pm by

Spell Penetration

Agility is always the best thing to do, our shots are cause they use mana, but we cannot be silenced, and our shots do not benifit from +spell damage or +spell Darigraz to North wrote:I is not liking this idea of stepping in offices, the office of you is sounds like a Hottopic where all the transvestite makeup men hangs out and talks about havings sex with they fall out boy. Whys do they wants sex with nuclear freak?I’d go agi. I’ve never heard of anyone putting the other on gear (for a hunter). So I’d assume it doesn’t work. Even if it did work on our offensive (like arcane shot), would it really be worth it compared to a good amount of extra agi (which helps in several categories)? But if someone knows for a I would go with the +12 agi only because everything cept serpent sting and wyvern sting, and prolly your traps too, is now based on attack power even tho arcane shot says it is arcane damage…..it’s damage is based on AP. The only thing spell penetration does is reduces the targets resistances to magic damage by that amount, so if you’re fighting something that has no resist to nature (or fire, traps maybe) then that 20 spell penetration isn’t doin you any good. The agi however increases your AP and crit chance and would then increase your damage output. Edited, Mar 21st 2007 7:12pm by AlkniirDoes spell penetration effect our shots that much? I’ve heard it does and if so will put +20 spell pen on my cloak instead of +12 agi.-Grimace 70 Cow Hunter – Muradin Justis 70 Blood Elf Shadow Priest Kenra 70 Blood Knight

Just one tip, you might want to post on the Main WoW Furoms on this site, since this is not only related to hunters =P But still, cool, if I make a JC I’ll try that Antonica, Master of Shadows

SV Spec.

That’s a pretty bad build Aethien, but since I can tell you’re a good person by your post, I’m willing to help out =P Imp. Feign Death: This talent is complete bullsht. I mean, in theory it seems nice. But really, this talent is just too much of a waste and there are much better out there. You can always just clear your target and you FD will have a much higher chance to avoid resistance. Readiness: We don’t have too many hunter abilities with long cooldowns. There are better spots for this talent. And you can always put more points in survival or get Scatter Shot. Trap Mastery: Seems good, probaly is good, but there are so many better talents I would just drop this. Master Tactician: I’ve only heard bad reviews for this, I have nor ever will specc survival, but many say the proc rate is too low to be worth the effect and talent points. – Now, the talents your missing Entrapment: Lmao, you don’t have this? It’s an awesome talent, and ask Theophany, I hear much from him how many times it saved his ass. Survivalist: 10 more hp is a good thing. Not the best pre-70. But at the end-game, for raiding and PvP you need all the hp you can get. – Now, for the builds I’d reccomend something like this. Or better, something like this without MT. On a side note, Surefooted and Imp. Wing Clip are mainly pure PvP talents. So plan accordingly to that.

Hunter’s Guide, from a Beast Master’s Perspective updated

I’ve been wondering if you were going to, and waiting for you to, update this for a while. Excellent work. It still surprises me how idiotic some players can be. Maybe we should rent billboard space to advertise this thing all over the globe.

talents?

Azuarc is right. Whatever you invision your hunter being. Beast Mastery is, well..mastering your pet. Most people say this is the best for leveling, as do I, but the other ones are still just as useful. Marksmanship is mastering your arrows. So while your pet is distracting something, you’ll shoot it down with arrows. some marksman hunters don’t even need their pet out. Survival is like Azuarc said, that wilderness ranger sort of thing. They can protect themselves and they’re harder to kill if you use it right. I’d say it looks like a fun spec, I might try it out soon. Although your choice is totally personal opinion, and I suggest you do whatever you want for now since it’s your first time on WoW, if you just wanna level I suggest Beast Mastery. But like I said, WoW’s nothing without a little adventure. Make choices, if your choices fail, then choose again. You can’t lose the game, and just think of it this way..there’s always someone playing that’s worse than you I say this because I’m only at lvl 52 on the first character I’ve ever created, and, even though I had almost no clue what I was doing, I look at other low lvl characters and I think I actually did a pretty good job. Just go with what you think is right for you and you’ll make it through (>)> KIRBY DANCE PARTY!! Check out my friend’s new site – You can tell you’re learning from this site when your post count is higher than the armor on your main’s chest piece. How do you envision your hunter? As an archer, an animal tamer, or a wilderness ranger type? Once you make that decision, you’ve got it in your mind which talent tree to focus on. Knowing which talents to pick, well, that’s up to you. But if you take a look at the sticky thread “EVERY QUESTION ANSWERED HERE”, there’s a lot of talent stuff at the top of page 3. (Some of it is outdated, but it’s still 70 hunter of Dark Legacy, Lightbringer Only the exceptions can be exceptional. Send me your site feedbacki just started playing wow and im lvl 10 and i don’t knoe what to put in for my talents beast mastery, marksmanship or survival-?)

Silencing Shot on Pally Bubbles

From my experiance, when the pally is at anywhere between 10-30 health, a bubble is coming soon. Very few times have i seen one not do it, but it’s usually because it’s on hahaha, a mage killing me?!?! a mage killing me?!?! BOOM! ahh, well….point takenhow are you even supposed to know when they’re about to bubble?I think it will stop them from bubbling, just like scatter shot will if you shoot it before they bubble. I doubt its possible to stop a heal when the pally is already bubbled though…- God Emperor of Hunters and Priest Forum Mean Person. Also, can it be used on a pally WHILE they are bubed and trying to heal? Thanks for any hahaha, a mage killing me?!?! a mage killing me?!?! BOOM! ahh, well….point takenI would like to trade my 70 hunter (comes with a free 48 mage), in full blues for a human or undead mage levels 60-70. My hunter is on an RPPVP realm and is trasferrable to any type of realm (RP, pve, pvp, rppvp). YOUR mage must be on a pvp server and trasferrable as well. arcane shot>steady shot

I tested this on 30 (x2) Mobs at Level 69-71 (Nagrand Elements)and found that my arcane shot almost never crits, 9.82 but the steady crits at about 18.55 which is what my crit is (well 17.82 approx) Obviously this will become more clear and acurate as you do more shots, but i think its boils down to luck at the end of the day… -Reccy- 70 Orc Hunter Reccy- 51 Orc Warrior Threepwood- 29 Human Paladin Cwnderu- 20 Undead Priest Wife got you down? Boss makin’ you angry? Kids yellin’ at you? Well, fudge ‘emi did some practise in mobs..i shoot 30 arcane first and then 30 steady shots..and i noticed this maybe a statistic mistake, maybe just luck..but the gap was huge-Cause am i just a girl who wants to have fun ……and play world of huntercraftAre you using Titans Crit Line add on or something? Where is shows your highest damage per ability, and it also shows your crit percentage for each ability? If so then your arcane shot crit could be high depending on how often you use it. The more you use it the closer the crit gets to your actual crit . So if you are running an instance and are using steady shot in your constant rotation, lets say you fire it off 100 times, and 20 of those shots crit, obviously thats 20 crit rating. Now you throw in an arcane once in a while for kicks. So in that same instance run you fired 30 Arcane shots, and got lucky with a string of crits and had 9 crits. That’s a 30 crit rating for Arcane Shot. At first glance it would seem that Arcane would be better. But as you fire more and more shots, chances are more likely that the crit rating of that ability will drop and keep getting closer and closer to whatever your actual crit rating is.I have noticed something very strange…with my arcane shot i have 35 of crit and with steady shot only 15. My crit is 22. How this happen?why i crit most of the time with arcane and with steady shot is so rare?-Cause am i just a girl who wants to have fun ……and play world of huntercraft

hidden rapid fire change?

I’m sure that if they up’ed the cooldown on something like rapid fire by a whole minute without saying anything, there would have been a huge outcry. 1 minute is a LOT of time when you’re fighting a big boss.-Ayrianna 80 Nightelf Hunter – Queen of Typos Sylverra 69 Human Warlock Stormscale Server levaks wrote:And you Ayrianna you are the tupical noob hunter that everyone hates in BGs..the hunter that do arena just to get the axe..
